Fire Safety Services

JTP Associates -

Will assist with all aspects of fire safety to all types of business.

Protecting your business - is our business

Review and Audit

You may have already undertaken a fire risk assessment, but are unsure if it is correct or of what action to take next, or it may have been some time since the last fire risk assessment and a review is in order. JTP Associates can assist by reviewing both the documentation and premises to ensure the significant issues have been addressed and that any material changes have been taken into account.

To stay safe and compliant many of our clients engage us on a retainer basis to provide advice, to audit specific items through the year and undertake a review as necessary. Thus ensuring that you are made aware of any changes in the law or fire safety updates that may have an affect on your business.

Dealing with the Fire Service (Enforcing Authority).

At some stage the Fire Service will wish to visit your premises to carry out their own audit, which will mean an examination of your fire risk assessment and the standard of fire prevention and fire protection measures that you have implemented to guard against fire. JTP Associates will attend that meeting and where necessary speak on your behalf to ensure there are no misunderstandings by either party. At the same time we will be able to discuss any requirements or requests the fire service may make and then advise you accordingly. Very often we can ensure the whole process is quite painless and worry free.

You may have already had a visit by the fire service and perhaps have received a letter of Non-Compliance or even an Enforcement Notice. JTP Associates can represent you in discussions with the fire service and secure a way to ensure compliance satisfactory to both parties in the most cost effective way.

Property development and advice to architects

When a property is being converted, extended or redeveloped there is very often the need to devise and develop a fire safety scheme to satisfy current Building Regulations and any number of British Standards. There is also the need to satisfy the safety needs of its occupants depending on the use it is being put. For this we develop a Fire Strategy aimed to advise the project manager and architect the way forward to achieve a safe design and safe building.

Project Management

Once a scheme of work has been agreed we will, if required, undertake management of the fire safety side of the project to ensure standards are met throughout and are fit for purpose when complete. At this stage will produce a Management Plan for the new occupiers and be available to hand over responsibility for the maintenance of fire safety related matters to the named Responsible Person, in accordance with Building Regulations and the fire service.

Very often this will involve the planning for protected routes of escape, fire alarm systems, escape lighting, and fire fighting appliances. We have the skill sets to advise on theses issues and to engineer out problems that may not always appear obvious. This is especially good news for architects and designers who want to achieve something different but still meet the required standards.

Emergency Evacuation Plans

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, makes specific reference for the provision of an emergency plan. In brief the plan should incorporate how people will be warned of a fire and how they will be evacuated safely: details specific duties expected of members of staff; contingency plans and procedures for alerting and then greeting the emergency services.

Considering their fire service background JTP Associates are well positioned to work with you to develop a plan suitable for your needs, dependant on the type of business or premises you manage.

Staff Training

An essential part of ensuring the safety of your staff, your premises and indeed your business is well trained staff. All staff must receive training or instruction of the actions expected of them in the event of fire. For those staff expected to use fire extinguishers or undertake specific roles, specialist training must be provided. JTP Associates will advise on the training content required and then undertake or arrange such training as deemed necessary for your needs. We can either undertake training on site or in our own training rooms.
